Position description:
The Life Support Systems (LSS) Technician II at the Seattle Aquarium is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and optimization of aquatic life support systems to ensure they function efficiently, sustainably, and in alignment with the Aquarium’s standards for animal welfare and safety. Reporting to the LSS Supervisor, this role supports the structural integrity of habitats, contributes to system improvements and capital projects, and plays a key role in maintaining exhibit health through proper water quality and mechanical system performance. The position requires strong technical skills, the ability to work independently, and the ability to collaborate closely with Animal Care, Water Quality, Facilities, and Operations teams. The LSS Technician II also participates in on-call overnight monitoring and emergency response for animal health-dependent systems. Through this work, this position plays a vital part in supporting the health of aquatic life and the overall mission of the Aquarium.

Engineering Technician: Carpentry

Position Summary
The Engineering Technician (Carpenter) is responsible for the routine maintenance and repair of exhibit interactives, signage, lighting, and other display elements. This role ensures that exhibits, tools, and equipment remain organized and in optimal working condition. Key responsibilities include assisting the Exhibit and Life-Support Engineering (LSE) team with exhibit fabrication and installation, as well as working with other team members on regular exhibit upkeep tasks. The technician will also be accountable for maintaining all building surfaces such as plaster, drywall, millwork, and carpentry, and may be assigned to maintenance or life-support system projects as needed. The ideal candidate must have the ability to fabricate and repair acrylic, frame both metal and wood stud walls, and accurately read and interpret blueprints. (more…)
