Senior GIS Analyst – Full Time

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Senior Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst is responsible for the management and implementation of GIS across San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance departments and subsidiaries. This position reports to the Facilities Asset Manager, San Diego Zoo.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provides GIS data maintenance, manipulation, analysis, extraction and generation assignments.
  • Manages SAS cloud application and software licenses.
  • Responds to and resolves user inquiries including mapping and information requests.
  • Analyzes current GIS system functions, procedures and capabilities and resolves GIS applications problems.
  • Performs detailed spatial analysis.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

San Diego Zoo Safari Park Facilities team seeks a skilled Senior GIS Analyst with extensive experience in GIS systems, preferably complemented by a FAA Drone Pilot’s License for aerial data collection and analysis. Experience with utility mapping, trace networks, and the construction site environment is highly preferred, as well as familiarity with asset management, enabling the candidate to support both spatial data analysis and infrastructure management. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to support teams in GIS applications are essential. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about using GIS technology to further the mission of the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance.

JOB EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive experience in the design and development of GIS systems and applications

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree With a major in Geography, GIS, computer science or related field or equivalent specialized training

  • Management and implementation of GIS
